Webinar: Working with Immigration Consultants

May 5, 2023 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Zoom online
Presented by Catherine Diallo

BIO
Catherine Diallo is a German-qualified lawyer as well as a certified German, French and English translator.

She’s a member of the Ordre des traducteurs terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ, the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA), the American Translato’s Association (ATA) and the Canadian Association of Legal Translators (CALT).

She mostly serves legal and corporate clients in Canada, the US, and Europe.

In Montreal, Quebec, she was a self-employed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant and worked for different immigration law firms prior to starting her translation business full-time.

She is familiar with the different types of clients immigration professionals serve. This ultimately affects the type of translation service they need/the kind of translator they’ll be hiring. She’s excited to share this knowledge with you.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION

During this webinar, you’ll learn what to consider when offering your services to immigration consultants.

  • What types of clients does an immigration consultant serve?
  • Are they working with immigration applicants only or with Canadian companies hiring foreign talent as well?
  • What types of immigration services do they offer?
  • Are they solopreneurs or part of a larger practice?

These are the questions you should be able to answer before picking up the phone and pitching your services.

We will also look at the formal translation requirements as defined by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, as they’re a bit contradictory and refusals due to formalities happen quite frequently.

The presentation will take 1.5 hours. A 30-minute Q&A session will conclude the webinar.

Cost:  $40
ATIA Members: $30

A Zoom invite will be sent to registrants one day before the event.  Deadline to register is May 4th.

**Tickets/registration will be available closer to the time of the event.
