Medical Interpreter

A Medical Interpreter is a professional responsible for enabling both a professional and a client with very different backgrounds and perceptions, and an unequal relationship of power and knowledge, to communicate to their mutual satisfaction.

A Medical Interpreter should be skilled in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, as well as sight translation and note-taking.  He/she should have a good knowledge of medical terminology and be sensitive to cultural differences. Medical interpreters work at medical settings, hospitals, and doctor's offices.
