Associate Level Prerequisite Exams – Spring 2023

All candidates MUST attend the online “Mandatory Information Session”  February 11, 2023 to be eligible to register and write the prerequisite exams detailed below.

Here are the details of the prerequisite exams to be held online April 1, 2023:
    • Code of Ethics Exam (Translators/Interpreters ($45)
      • Case Study and multiple choice questions. Test time:  60 minutes
    • English Proficiency Exam for Translators ($45)
      • Candidates writing into English must pass an Editing test; candidates writing from English must pass a Reading-comprehension test (so you can only register for one language combination at a time).  Editing test time:  90 minutes – Reading-comprehension test time:  60 minutes
    • Reading Comprehension for Interpreters Exam ($45)
      • Tests the candidates reading-comprehension in English.  Multiple choice questions related to short reading selections.  Test time:  90 minutes

The package you receive after attending the information session will assist you to determine which exams are for you!

Full refunds will be granted for cancellation of registration only if the Examination Coordinator is informed of the decision by e-mail within 10 days of the exam date. After that time no refund will be issued.

    • Examinations: Refunds (less a $25 administration fee) will only be given to those candidates who miss the examination due to medical reasons, provided a doctor’s note is submitted to the examinations coordinator at least 24 hours prior to, or within two weeks following the exam. Refunds will not be given for any other reason. Alternate arrangements to write the exam cannot be made.
    • Registration Fees cannot be applied to other ATIA events or examinations and cannot be carried forward to future examinations.
    • You must be either a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada.  Photo ID is required for entry into the exams.

Following Registration and within one week of the exam date you will receive exam instructions and your online test invite by email.

Associate Level Translation Exam ~ Registration

ATIA is pleased to announce you can now register for the Fall 2022 online associate level translation exam
Please read all the following information.


Mandatory prerequisites:

  • Pass the Code of Ethics Examination – within the past 2 years
  • Pass the English Proficiency Examination – within the past 2 years

Note:  You MUST register for the same language combination that you confirmed prior to writing the English Proficiency Examination.

REGISTRATION:

  • Hard-copy dictionaries and reference material only.  Online searches will not be permitted.
You must register and pay below.  One week before the exam date you will receive, by email, exam instructions and rules along with a practice test.  Your actual exam invite will be emailed Two days before exam day [Saturday December 10].

Fall Associate Level Prerequisite Exams – Registration Information

All candidates MUST attend the online “Information Session“, October 29, 2022 to be registered and eligible to write the prerequisite exams. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED…

ONLY candidates who attend the information session will receive the information package which contains registration and payment instructions for the prerequisite exams.
Here are the details and the fee guide for the prerequisite exams to be held online November 12, 2022:
    • Code of Ethics Exam (Translators/Interpreters ($45)
      • Case Study and multiple choice questions. Test time:  60 minutes
    • English Proficiency Exam for Translators ($45)
      • Candidates writing into English must pass an Editing test; candidates writing from English must pass a Reading-comprehension test (so you can only register for one language combination at a time).  Editing test time:  90 minutes – Reading-comprehension test time:  60 minutes

You will be able to choose one exam or the other, OR if completing both the Code of Ethics and the English Proficiency for Translators OR the Code of Ethics and the Reading Comprehension for Interpreters, then you choose the combined registration option and your total will be $90. If taking just one exam this session then your total will be $45.
