My name is Adriana de Alva, I moved to Canada from Mexico in 2010. I am now Mexican and Canadian. I love my new country and I love my town of Okotoks. But, for the past 12 years I have been trying to keep alive my heritage and customs with my family and sharing them with my friends. These include my language, my cooking and some mexican traditions.
I studied architecture and did a masters in business in the 90´s but, when we moved to Canada, life took a turn and I started teaching private Spanish lessons. I have been doing it for the past 12 years. Thankfully I was in a full immersion English school (American School Foundation of Mty) during my formative years and have previous teaching experience as well. In the last few years I´ve also been doing translations from English to Spanish and vice versa. Last year I started the process of becoming a member of ATIA. I am now an associate member in translation from English-Spanish.
